{"id":6878,"date":"2023-07-06T07:25:04","date_gmt":"2023-07-06T07:25:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ssc.uniri.hr\/?page_id=6878"},"modified":"2026-09-16T11:39:37","modified_gmt":"2026-09-16T11:39:37","slug":"career-management","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/ssc.uniri.hr\/en\/counselling-and-support\/for-alumni\/career-management\/","title":{"rendered":"Career management"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Career management does not simply mean finding your first job after graduation. <strong>It is a dynamic and continuous process that continues throughout your professional life.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Throughout your career, you may change jobs, fields of work, or professional directions, move into new industries, or acquire new knowledge and skills in order to adapt to changes in the labour market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Career management includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>understanding your own interests, values, and professional goals<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>identifying and assessing your knowledge, skills, and competencies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>exploring opportunities to develop new knowledge and skills<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>monitoring and assessing opportunities in the labour market<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>setting short-term and long-term career goals<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>planning the steps and activities that will help you achieve your goals.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-luminous-vivid-amber-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-b356928205322acc1e2b12ac56c37c75\"><strong>Employability \u2013 More Than a Degree<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Career management is also closely connected to the development of <strong>employability<\/strong>, the ability to find and retain employment, develop within a professional environment, and adapt to changes in the labour market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;<em>Employability consists of skills, knowledge and attitudes that increase an employee&#8217;s ability to secure and retain a job, advance and cope with changes, obtain another job if desired or necessary, and facilitate entry into the labour market at different stages of the life cycle.&#8221; International Labour Organization, 2013<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Employability therefore involves more than professional knowledge and qualifications. It also includes the ability to recognise your own competencies, engage in continuous learning, and adapt to new circumstances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-luminous-vivid-amber-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-a096c075bef2624b4b241b7040f7a46b\"><strong>Support in Career Planning<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Career counsellors at the Professional Guidance &amp; Career Development Counselling Centre can provide support at different stages of career planning and development.
