Who are students with disabilities?
The category of students with disabilities includes those whose health conditions, difficulties, or impairments, in interaction with environmental factors, may prevent their full and effective participation in the academic environment on an equal basis.
Health conditions, difficulties, or impairments are determined by a decision on the percentage of physical impairment issued by a competent body, or by a finding and opinion on the severity and type of health conditions, difficulties, or impairments of functional abilities, or other relevant documentation.
Do I have an advantage when enrolling at the faculty as a person with disabilities?
Candidates with disabilities who have a physical impairment of 60% or more, as well as candidates with a 2nd to 4th degree of disability severity according to the “List of Severity and Types of Disability – Impairment of Functional Abilities”, and whose impairments are listed on the “List of Organism Impairment – List I”, provided they exceed the classification threshold, have the right to priority in enrolment.
Requirements: You must have passed all compulsory and elective parts of the state matriculation examination required for enrolment in individual study programmes and, where necessary, passed additional tests of special knowledge, skills and abilities prescribed by the higher education institution. The classification threshold for additional tests is determined by the higher education institution.
You must send a decision on the degree of physical impairment to the Central Applications Office of the Agency for Science and Higher Education by registered mail by the specified deadline (see the Calendar).
All detailed information about applications for studies and deadlines for submitting documentation can be found on the website of the Central Applications Office of the Agency for Science and Higher Education.
Am I entitled to lower study costs as a person with disabilities?
If you are enrolling regularly in the first year of study, you are entitled to a full tuition subsidy. If you have earned at least 30 ECTS credits in the previous academic year and have been diagnosed with at least 60% physical impairment or at least level III functional impairment, you are entitled to a further full subsidy for study costs.
If you are enrolling as an extraordinary student and have been diagnosed with at least 60% physical impairment or at least level III functional impairment, you will pay a 50% reduced tuition fee.
More information about subsidies, scholarships and awards for students with disabilities, as well as reimbursement of transportation costs, can be found in the Useful Information section.
What do I need to do to exercise my rights during my studies as a person with disabilities?
If you have a documented disability and need individually adapted ways of attending classes and taking exams, as well as adapted literature, you should contact us via the Application form.
You will then need to attend individual counselling and submit relevant documentation supporting your need for adaptation.
After the individual counselling, along with the accompanying documentation, we will issue a Recommendation for the Adaptation of the Academic Environment, which is valid until the end of your studies, unless otherwise stated.
