Are you coming to study in Rijeka and wondering where to start, how to exercise your right to an adapted room in our Student Village, and what it all looks like? Below, we provide some important information for your life in Rijeka.
Locations
There are two Student Villages at the University of Rijeka – I. G. Kovačić and Trsat. Life in the I. G. Kovačić Student Village is organised in five accommodation facilities. However, it is important to note that there are no rooms adapted for people with disabilities in this village.
If you need an adapted room, your address will be the Trsat Student Village, which is located on the Campus and has 10 single rooms adapted for people with disabilities.

If you wish to stay in Rijeka during the summer, you can also remain in your Rijeka dormitory during the summer holidays.
Rights
Students with disabilities have certain rights related to accommodation during their studies. It is important to know that, depending on the category, you can exercise different rights to obtain a place in a student residence hall.
The categories are as follows:
- Students with disabilities in group 1 (students with at least 60% established body damage or at least level III impairment of functional abilities in accordance with the regulation prescribing the methodology of expert assessment, and who are registered in the Register of Persons with Disabilities) have a DIRECT right to subsidised housing.
- Students with disabilities in group 2 (students with up to 50% established body damage or up to level II impairment of functional abilities in accordance with the regulation prescribing the methodology of expert assessment, and who are registered in the Register of Persons with Disabilities) receive an ADDITIONAL 400 POINTS in the scoring and determination process.
The application for Student Accommodation – applications for dormitories – is announced in July. Accommodation conditions, required documentation, and the deadline for submitting documentation are specified in the Competition for the allocation of places in the student settlement. Therefore, it is important to follow the Student Centre website at www.scri.uniri.hr.
Support in student accommodation
Students with disabilities at the University of Rijeka who are accommodated in student dormitories are provided with support from a caregiver in accordance with their identified needs. This is to increase the independence of students with disabilities so that they can be as independent as possible in their daily lives and activities.
Support in student accommodation is implemented as part of the “Centre for Support for Students and Young People with Disabilities” programme of the Association “Znam”, which is funded by the Ministry of Labour, Pension System, Family and Social Policy of the Republic of Croatia.
To receive support in student accommodation, students can contact us by filling out the Application form or by emailing prilagodbe@uniri.hr.
